Innovation and Industry Relations

1. Research

Research collaboration between industry and Technion researchers creates tomorrow's solutions - today. The joint studies combine the academic excellence of the Technion with the practical needs of the industry, thus leading to groundbreaking developments that shape the future. To face global competition, companies need to implement innovative technologies, many of which are based on academic research. At the same time, an academy that aspires to influence must be connected to the current challenges of the industry.

2. Entrepreneurship and commercialization of technologies

The Technion's business unit - T3 - fosters promising research and talented researchers to move from the laboratory to the field, through assistance in identifying technologies with commercial potential, granting legal protection for intellectual property, and connecting them to leading companies and entrepreneurs.
The programs run by the Technion to support entrepreneurship and commercialization processes are detailed below.

The Technion offers a variety of programs in which students, researcher, and industry professionals can particiapte:
- Thub
- Schulich Leaders Program

4. Community

The Technion fosters community relations with industry, divided by fields. In a considerable part of the faculties as well as in some of the research centers, there are Industry Clubs that are a platform for meaningful connections, for example, student projects in collaboration with industry, holding workshops, seminars, joint teaching, joint strategic thinking discussions, etc. Each club has several dozen companies in the fields relevant to the faculty or to the research center.

5. Diverse models for cooperation and knowledge transfer

An important channel in the transfer of knowledge exists through the employment of experts from the industry at the Technion, and vice versa - the employment of the Technion's researchers in the industry:
The series of "Research fellows from the industry" track was carried out, which allows researchers from the industry to work part-time as senior researchers at the Technion.
The series of "Industry Consulting" course was carried out, which allows members of senior academic staff to work in industry up to one day a week.

6. Access to research services and infrastructure

At the Technion there are dozens of research and service centers, which provide access to equipment and unique technical capabilities in order to promote cooperation with industry:
- An information website makes accessible the full range of services and technologies available at the Technion
- The Technion is working on developing and operating a variety of models for renting laboratory and research services with the aim of allowing both large and small companies access to use the Technion's infrastructure.
