Technion Update Message

Tuesday, Nov 14, 2023, 19:30

Shalom,

In consideration of the current situation, which remains unchanged, the Technion campuses will continue to operate under emergency protocols, as has been the case over the past week. We are following the guidelines of the Home Front Command, while allowing for flexibility in remote work, subject to the approval of supervisors as necessary.

  • Support for Reservists at the Technion: Following an announcement by the presidents of research universities this morning, the Technion’s 2023-2024 academic year will commence once the process of reservist discharge begins, but not before December 24th, 2023. A preliminary notification regarding the start of the academic year will be issued two weeks prior. During this period, and in the first week of the semester, a “Back to Track” program will be implemented. This program is designed to facilitate a smooth transition for students, especially reservists, back into their routines, offering opportunities for refreshment and to address any learning gaps. For more details on academic accommodations, visit: https://www.technion.ac.il/?p=55830.
  • Adjustments to Tuition Payment Schedule: In light of the delayed start of the academic year, the tuition payment schedule for undergraduate studies has been adjusted. Payments originally scheduled for December and January will now be due in January and February, respectively. Tuition payments for graduate studies planned for January and February will remain as scheduled.

Wishing you a pleasant evening.

We are adhering to the Home Front Command’s guidelines, while also allowing flexibility for the approval of remote work by supervisors as necessary.

As a result of the “Iron Swords” War, the Technion has today announced a set of academic accommodations for the 2023-2024 academic year, aimed at supporting all students on campus. This includes extended provisions for reservists who have been called up under Order 8. Additionally, the academic calendar for 2024 will consist of two semesters, and the summer semester is cancelled. At the start of the academic year, we will implement a “Back to Track” program designed to assist students, particularly reservists, in smoothly transitioning back to their routine. This program aims to provide an opportunity for students to reacclimate and bridge any gaps in the process of returning to studies.

Additionally, Students who have confirmed their residency status by 26.10.23, and do not currently live in the dorms, can return their room/apartment key, evacuate their residence, and will not be charged for November. Teaching staff are requested to notify the students about the postponement of submissions through the usual channels.

In the coming days, the center’s activity will expand to assist the residents of the North and the South, and the armed forces. You are invited to take part, both as volunteers, and as recipients of aid. https://technion.my.canva.site/
  • Donation fund: the Public Affairs and Resource Development division, together with the Technion Societies in Israel and around the world, has set up an emergency fund to support students who have been called up for service, and their families.
