Professor Yeshayahu Lifshitz of the Technion – Among the 100 leading materials engineers in the world in the last decade (2000-2010)

10Professor Yeshayahu (Shay) Lifshitz of the Faculty of Materials Engineering at the Technion is counted among the world’s 100 leading scientists in the last decade in the field of materials, according to the list published by “Thomson Reuters”, which appeared in “The Times” higher education supplement. He is the only Israeli appearing in the list, which surveys the achievements of around a half million researchers in the world in the field of materials.

This list and a second one listing the world’s 100 leading chemists in the last decade were prepared following UNESCO’s desginating 2011 the “International Year of Chemistry”. Scientists whose papers published since 2000 have had the highest impact on the scientific community as reflected in the average number of citations per paper appear in the list. “Thomson Reuters” provides integrated information services to different communities, among which is the academic community. The company examined the citations of papers of about a half million researchers in the field of materials in the last ten years and the one hundred scientists who were selected constitute the top 0.02 percent leading materials researchers.
