FACILITIES

The Laboratory for Industrial Wastewater and Water Renovation consists of a pilot plant and a chemical laboratory ; In addition it shares the facilities in the Laboratory for the Study of Organic Micropollutants.

Pilot Plant for the study of  Industrial Wastewater and Water Renovation
Equipped for carrying out multitude investigations characteristic of the industrial wastewater and water renovation, such as simulation of aquifer restoration units, optimization of wastewater treatment units such us oil water separation, disturbances in the biological units, filtration, etc.    A  system of six large columns (15 cm I.D; 200 cm long) together with a similar system of 12 smaller columns (6 cm I.D.; 100 cm long) is set up for the study of: bioremediation, biomass dynamics in a porous media, changes of hydraulic conditions in a porous media during bioremediation. Series of batch reactors for the study of external disturbance caused by organic pollutants to activated sludge.

Laboratory for Industrial Wastewater
This laboratory is equipped for chemical analyses of wastewater: Chemical oxygen demand reactor (COD Reactor HACH); photometer (spectronic 20 Genesys); oxygen demand analyzer (OD YSI Model 58); turbidimeters (Turbidimeter 2100 A HACH); pH meter, conductivity meter,  ovens; balances, incubator.
