Final Presentations of the 2006 Plant Design Projects

On Wednesday,  14th June, the chemical engineering graduating class of 2007 will present the final year design projects that they completed in the framework of the course 054410 Plant Design. For a schedule of the event, click here.

The students were grouped into three imaginary competing companies, each assigned to prepare  a complete process package for a process to process 200,000 lb/hr of natural gas to produce sales gas and a number of liquid gas products. The presentations represent the result of a continuous design effort beginning with the simulations course, 054330 Simulation Laboratory, taken in the 6th semester, in which the students got their first experience with flowsheet simulation, continuing to the theoretical design course, 054402 Design and Analysis, taken in the 7th semester, in which they produced a detailed process design to maximize the venture profit, and terminating in the detailed design course, 054410 Plant Design, where the final process package was prepared for the entire process. Each imaginary company of students: "Blue Technologies," "Red Associates," and "Green Engineering" consists of 16-17 students, each assigned to one of four engineering groups.
