Technion
Israel Institut of Technology

One of the best, if not the best, known institutions for higher education in Israel is the Technion. I am still having some what of a hard time believing that I am studying there. The Technion has always been a symbol for success in academia in Israel and I am proud to be part of it.

I am currently pursuing an MA in Organizational Behavior/ Organizational Psychology at the William Davidson Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management. My advisor is Professor Anat Rafaeli.

Deciding to continue my education and going into the filed of Organizational Behavior was not a hard decision. The tougher decision was where to get the degree. I was told that studying in the US would be easier and might be considered more lucrative than studying in Israel. The stipend and financial assistance and resources are much greater in the US than in Israel. However, I knew that after 6 years in the US I would like to go back home, let alone that completing a PhD would take between 4-6 years...

I looked into various institutions in Israel and the US. I came to the conclusion that the institute closest to the US as far as funding and prestige was the Technion. In 2003 Professor Anat Rafaeli came to ICOS to give a talk. I was very impressed by her. I was introduced to her by a mutual friend/colleague Shirli Kopelman. Anat has been tremendous in answering many of my questions and directing me to students at the Technion who have helped as well.

In the summer of 2004 I visited Israel and went to check out the Technion more thoroughly. I met with many of the professors in the department and with many of the students. I loved it! The Technion seems great. Let alone the name of the faculty was the William Davidson Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management...

William Davidson is one of my personal hero's. He is the owner of the Detroit Pistons my favorite basketball team and at the time the world champions (hopefully this will be true as well when you read this...). At the University of Michigan I worked at the building under his name. At the University of Michigan Hillel I enjoyed Shabbat dinner's he donated. It seemed like he was shadowing me and now when I came to the Technion I found out the faculty I plan on applying to is under his name... what bigger sign could anyone ask for???

I applied for the 2004-2005 school year knowing that if I get in I will postpone my beginning by a year since, I had committed to a job in the states (CREW), and because of the difference in application time between American and Israeli institutions.

I was thrilled when I got the news that I had been accepted and had over a year to prepare for this new endeavor. This year of preparation assisted me in forming a working relationship with Prof. Rafaeli and meeting other current graduate students.

Studying at the Technion is great! The people are amazing. We have a cohesive group of student who help and assist each other. I am enjoying my time at the Technion.
