Purpose and goals

The goal is to establish at the Technion a World Center where theoreticians will exchange ideas, check the status of their field, and discuss what are the most important problems in their field. In order to know what directions of research should be taken and what are the important open questions that should be answered we ALSO focus on creating a dialogue between theoreticians and experimentalists. Fruitful dialogues and discussions will lead naturally also to collaboration.

We furthermore emphasize the fact that minicourses must be offered to graduate students and postgraduate fellows and we use our resources to support graduate students and postgraduate fellows from all over the world to come, provided they will present posters. Through these Workshops and Winter-schools we hope to create an impact on tomorrow's scientists of Israel and other countries.

The Technion researchers play a key role in those activities. Subjects of the Workshop and Winter-schools will be chosen from the following: (a) The topic of research of one of our faculty members who is a major figure in that particular field; (b) the topic of research of one of our young faculty members who wishes to get into this subject of research. Quite naturally these Workshops and Winter-schools will supply a stage to our faculty members to present their scientific achievements and abilities.
