Technical Facilities

The Rabin Desalination Laboratory (RDL) is equipped with facilities for studying both thermal desalination processes and membrane separations (RO, NF, UF, MF and ED). The equipment is also used for exposing undergraduate and graduate students to unit operations of water technologies.

The equipment available at the laboratory includes:

Research facilities are also available in the Membrane Separations Laboratory of the Chemical Engineering Department, whose basic equipment was largely acquired through the generosity of Lyn & Malcolm Chaikin.

Receently, jointly with GWRI Wastewater Treatmnet Laboratory, a large scale project was started. The project is aimed toward production of quality water for every use, from sewage wastewater. This project is well equipped with MF,UF, MBR systems, Active carbon, catalytic reactions, NF and RO systems.

The RDL has access to excellent analytical and computing facilities available in the Chemical Engineering Department and in other laboratories of the Research Institute (WRI), which include ICP,FTIR, SEM and TEM.
